It has been a joy to work with Dark Yellow Dot and Lauren for an artist online event and my first solo exhibition. There has been so much encouragement and exposure after these events and I feel so lucky to have got them. The process was relaxed and well organised and I really felt supported. It’s been inspiring and I feel motivated to learn, grow and support other working artists!

Working with Dark Yellow Dot has been an amazing experience. The team was very professional yet easy going. Curating most of the aspect of the show including marketing and a beautiful vinyl with my name. Having my work on show at 1B Window Gallery meant that everyone walking by could see my work, it didn’t matter who they were. It Has made my work more accessible to the general public and in doing so, it has brought me closer to where I see myself as an artist.
Dark Yellow Dot exhibited my show, Black Lake, at the Genesis Cinema for six weeks. As an early career artist, having the chance to display my work for so long in such a busy and characterful space felt like striking gold! I was lucky enough to sell five of my works during that time, which has allowed me to invest in new materials so I can develop my practice more going forward. The exposure Dark Yellow Dot can give to new artists is second to none. It’s also a uniquely accessible opportunity, with the only fees charged being commission on sold works. Lauren was also a big help, always very patient with my newbie questions! I’m so grateful to Dark Yellow Dot and hope we can work together again in the future!

Exhibiting with Dark Yellow Dot was my first ever exhibition, and without formal arts education was a little daunting. Lauren is reassuring and clear to work with as an emerging artist, providing advice and support for everything from pricing work to curation and hanging. I have sold work both as part of VARISCAN and outside of it as a consequence of the increased visibility of my work since, and feel greatly empowered to move on to additional opportunities. Lauren’s design work around the exhibition, including flyers, branding and online resources, was also incredible and something I could not have done without!
