Existence: Emma Liao

Emma Liao

Emma is an artist from Taiwan and currently studying fine art in London. Creating upon self-experience as the conceptual basis, Emma usually explores inspirations from her daily life, works in forms of sculpture or installation with multiple mediums- most of Emma’s works are the outcomes of self-reflection from her experience during a period. Always exploring elements such as texture, structure and abstract form, and interested in how large scale artworks interact or involve in an environment or space.

Working with the material of thread and fabric, observing the relationship between place, space and oneself. In this series, I change the form and the structure of the fabric following different interior structure and room space. Constructing the work into an abstract, deformed form, I created the main body as a human being, an individual, which response to the concept of creating a body and a system that contained my personal consciousness- the process of development could be seen as a proof, or the trace of the artist’s existence, base on the idea of remaining oneself.
