This privacy policy and terms of use document describes how information and data is collected from you when you use this online website, mobile website, digital service, or any related products, services, features or functionality (each a “Service”, collectively the “Services”) and how Dark Yellow Dot including its subsidiaries/affiliates, including Artoflol. (“Dark Yellow Dot”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), uses, shares and manages your information and data. By using any of the Services, you consent to the collection, use, processing, and sharing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to modify this document at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.

How do you select your artists?

We select artists based on the artwork first. Selections are based on a few criteria as well as visual strength.

As for the types of art, we’re always open! We love to find artists doing new and interesting things with their medium of choice. We look for artists who have a unique approach to the medium or subject, and try to make sure all artists have a fair chance and haven’t been selected too many times before, if at all.We check for inappropriate/offensive material or descriptions.

Sometimes our call outs aimed at a specific demographic, whether that be respective of location, age, ethnicity or gender. For example the Female Gaze exhibition was calling female identifying artists, our BOLD exhibition was a call for Black artists, our LIFTED art competitions are for under 25’s and our exhibitions at the Genesis are for London based artists.

When we partner with venues for exhibitions or arts markets, we’ll get their opinion on what art works best in their space.

For the website / Artist of The Month, we accept art in any medium, except film and performing art. Although sometimes we consider film and performance art for certain occasions or events.

If you’re not sure if your artwork will be appropriate, you can see our exhibitions section or go to @darkyellowdot on Instagram to see who we’ve selected in the past.

– Try refreshing the page, and then re-enter your info

If you’re still having a problem, contact us.

Do I have to pay to submit my art?

Sometimes. We pride ourselves on creating both free and low cost submission fees, because we’re artists too and know what it’s like to spend on expensive application fees.

Processing fees occur not only to maintain the website, but allow us the time to go through each application carefully reading your descriptions, and reviewing your work so that we can continue creating opportunities for artists like you.

When you fill in the application form, you’ll be redirected to a payment page powered by PayPal.

How will you use my art?

We use your art for the intended purposes of featuring or promoting you.

We only use artwork by selected artists, who have already given us permission. This may be on our website, on printed marketing materials for exhibitions, in our emails or on social media (including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Tumblr)

We always give credit to the artists and/or the source of the artwork.

We do not replicate or reproduce your original artwork.
