Out Loud

And Proud: Amplifying LGBTQ+ Stories.

Step into the vibrant world of LGBTQ+ creativity at Genesis Cinema Gallery’s latest exhibition for Pride 2024. This expansive showcase not only celebrates the Pride movement but also amplifies the voices and experiences of LGBTQ+ artists, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a kaleidoscope of identities and perspectives.

Let me introduce you to the artists:

Savanna Achampong (They/Them):
@savanna_achampong

Studied a BA Fine Art and graduated from Goldsmiths University in January 2024 (completed the course in August 2023). Their recent work touches on lived experiences of Blackness, queerness and neurodivergence. Through their practice, they make sense of or at least acknowledge experiences and create a sense of belonging for themself in places that exist outside of societal rejection and conditional acceptance. “I think my work lends itself well to the theme of the showcase and I’d love to have it exhibited alongside other creative LGBTQ+ people.”

Kate Williams-Parry (She/They):
@dyslexix_aries

Born and raised in Dubai then moved to London in 2018 to study at Central Saint Martins and gain a BA in Fine Art and has found a new home here in London. Kate has always been passionate about the arts either by being the creator or the supporter and the reason why am I applying today. Not only has Kate followed and admired the Dark Yellow Dot shows, but this would be an opportunity to meet other artists and creative with similar studies and interests in practices.

Charlotte Young (She/Her):
@charlotte_louiseyoung

A digital artist studying BA in Fine Art and a diploma in creative computing at Central Saint Martins, employing 3D rendering and coding as primary mediums. Originally from a small town in Leicestershire, Charlotte found a love for painting as a way to self-express lesbian identity. Queer culture is heavily centered throughout her practice, particularly the evolving connection between queer culture and the digital realm. Dark Yellow Dots exhibition celebrating pride will be a great space for Charlotte to feature work with with other queer artists while celebrating the queer experience.

Lisa McGilben (She/Her):
@lisamcgilbenartist.   |    www.lisamcgilben.co.ukAn emerging artist residing in London, a city that has been home for the past twenty-four years. Originally from Lancashire, Lisa spent a decade in South Africa, an experience that left an indelible mark and enriched her artistic perspective. As well as an artist, which is her passion, she is a midwife, which fulfills her purpose in life. Her educational background includes a degree in contempoary media practice. She identifies as queer and considers Pride to be an important celebration of equality and diversity within the LGBTQ+ communities and beyond.
Mia Harwood (She/Her):
