WHO WE ARE?

Founded by artist Lauren Little, Dark Yellow Dot is an artist-run platform for emerging visual artists that are typically at the beginning stages of their creative journey.

WHAT WE DO?

We focus on providing up-to-date guidance, resources and opportunities for talented creatives. Our goal is to make art by real artists more accessible to real people.

In the last year alone, we’ve produced and curated over 20 exhibitions in London, displaying artwork by hundreds of artists, and have produced countless articles filled to the brim with helpful tips for creatives.

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

We will be creating 14 solo/group exhibitions in 2023/24 and want you to help us fill our calendar! We are looking for fresh talent to exhibit their art with us in the upcoming year.

We’re looking for London based artists who would like to take part in our upcoming exhibitions featuring 2D artwork, including but not limited to painting, drawing/illustration, printmaking, photography, collage, mixed media etc . Selected artists will have the opportunity to display artwork for Dark Yellow Dot at our exhibition space at 1B. Window Gallery.

We want to hear from vibrant solo artists and or artist groups who create work that push boundaries, are expressive, attention grabbing and dynamic.

ARTISTS WILL HAVE THE CHANCE TO:

• display their art in a real exhibition space in London for up to 2 months
• get a special highlight that will live permanently on our website
• receive promotion distributed to over 15K followers & subscribers
• receive support and advice from our team and/or partners

Many of our previously selected artists had never exhibited or sold art before, and we’re proud to have provided their very first professional opportunities, and we want to continue doing this for even more artists next year. So, even if you’ve never shown your artwork publicly before, we want to hear from you!

WHERE ARE OUR GALLERY SPACES?

We currently manage two public-facing gallery spaces in East London which allow artists to share their work with a wide audience. The Genesis Cinema Gallery in Mile End (for 2D art) and the 1B Window Gallery in Walthamstow (for 3D art). Read more about them here.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• Must be over 18 years old
• Practicing or studying in the arts
• Reside in or near to London, UK
• Unique approach to their (2D or 3D) medium of choice

Unfortunately we can’t accommodate film or performance art in our galleries at this time.

HOW TO BE CONSIDERED FOR 2023/24

We only look at our artist roster when considering artists for our shows and other art opportunities. Add your name to our roster by submitting up to 4 images of your artwork/ideas. £8 submission fee applies.

WHEN WILL YOU HEAR BACK?

If we’ve selected your art for a show, we’ll let you know by email. Our shows are ongoing, so you’ll only hear from us if we’re considering you for a solo or group exhibition throughout the year.
