Project Assistant, The Brixton Project
The Brixton Project
The Brixton Project creates and curates places and spaces in which everyone has an investment. We develop cultural and creative projects as part of our place-making activities, that seek to reflect Brixton as a remarkable place and amplify local people and local culture. We also manage the creative community for Brixton’s Creative Enterprise Zone, promoting and showcasing local creativity and supporting the development of Brixton as a creative area.
In a previous life, we were for seven years the Brixton Design Trail, transforming the Brixton townscape into an open and welcoming celebration of creativity, as part of the London Design Festival. Some of BDT’s legacy can be seen around Brixton, such as Flash Crossings, several large-scale murals and Brixton Road’s Peace & Love Bridge. Much of the work created locally for the Design Trail has deep resonance for a multi-cultural community that now identifies strongly with Brixton.
We are looking for a responsible and enthusiastic person to join us - to support the Team and Project Coordinator in managing projects and the day to day running of the ship. Ideally, you will be flexible and keen to get involved. You will need to be someone who works well as part of a team, which for us means you have a capacity for working independently on tasks, whilst keeping in-mind the bigger picture. Undoubtedly you are a bright confident person who can manage a range of responsibilities and stay clear-headed. You like work to be fun, engaging, challenging and rewarding and you are looking to contribute to something that is greater than the sum of its parts.
